Milngavie Pond Naturalisation Project
We have just started a naturalisation project on a rather bleak public pond in Milngavie. The idea is to create beds full of soil and then plant with lots of native aquatic marginal plants. Prior to work starting we had assumed we could drive stakes in to retain the boards and therefore the soil but the pool must have been filled in with rubble and clinker at some point, so stakes won’t go in. As a result Stuart and the guys are having to create a timber frame to hold the front boards in place. Looks like a deck frame currently but will end up as lots of lovely green aquatic plants once finished. Our friend the resident mute swan will eat them all if he gets a chance so we will also need to protect them with some wire.
