Water Gems is an award-winning landscape, design and water features company producing workmanship and service of an outstanding quality. Our portfolio includes full design and construction projects, natural swimming pools, specialist stonework, rebar sculptures and structures, aquatic and terrestrial planting, and wildflower meadows.
Water Gems is a market leader in the creation and renovation of wetlands, SUDS projects, bioengineering and erosion management, large-scale timber structures and boardwalks, lake management and naturalisation, and the creation of wildflower meadows. Water Gems advises and carries out work for local councils, landscape architects and architects.
Water Gems were delighted to be approached by Edinburgh Zoo to help in the preparations for the recent arrival of two beautiful giant pandas from China. Nick helped with the design of the two ponds in the panda enclosures. After considerable discussion as to the resistance, palatability and possible toxicity of various acquatic plants to giant pandas, the pools have now been planted with Glyceria maxima and Typha angustifolia.
In 2011 Water Gems completed a spectacular new viewing platform for birdwatching and feeding at Hogganfield Park in Glasgow. The spacious platform allows visitors to get close to the water and an attractive, contemporary-designed handrail keeps visitors, especially children, safe. See our Commercial section for more information and photographs of Water Gems' extensive range of projects.
