The Shapely Pond

This is the “shapely pond” that we built over the summer of 2017.

Apart from the pond we also re-laid the lawn and did various other work in the garden.

The design originally came from New Dimensions Garden Designers where the brief was for a shallow, reflective, stone clad pool. This was difficult to achieve as pumps and filtration are required to maintain crystal clear water but the pond is super shallow (only 150mm or so deep).  The hardware had to be hidden from sight in order to leave an elegant finish. Here the submersible pump is below the dark slate cladding base of the pool and the filtration is mounted on the wall behind the summer house. The pond is topped with light sandstones copes.

Mark Dunion of MGD Electrical put in the LED rope light for us, and Michaela Huber made the lovely scorched oak bridge pieces. Thanks also to Frazor of Thinredline Designs for the photography of the finished pool and, in particular, to the very kind clients for all their help with the build, and their permission to photograph it once it was finished.

It looks fabulous, particularly at night, with the perimeter lit up!
