County Durham - Greenfield site Starting to dig out basic shape for County Durham pond Pond dug out and blockwork added Drone shot of County Durham pond liner fitted Hedgerows planted

County Durham Biodiversity & Rewilding Project

A private client approached us to help them rewild an area of field in County Durham.  We created a 20m by 13m biodiversity pool with a larch deck, beach area and all native planting.  In addition, we scraped off large areas of turf and used the material to create banks for planting hedgerows.  The scraped areas were seeded with local provenance wildflower.  The project has given the client large areas of wildflower meadow intersected with native hedgerows.  The pool is a biodiversity hot spot with dragonflies, newts and swallows all using it.

Firestone pond liner from Gordon Low (https://www.gordonlowproducts.co.uk/)  and larch from Harelaw Sawmill. (https://www.harelawsawmill.com/index.html)

If you would like to find out more about this project, or would like more information on transforming your outdoor space into a biodiversity hotspot, then please get in touch.
