As a result of being involved with large scale excavations in public places Water Gems has developed experience in the creation of areas of wildflower. This is a particularly appropriate technique where large areas of subsoil are brought to the surface.
The availability of annual and perennial seed mixes as well as wildflower turf and plugs means that there is a range of strategies that can be employed.
Maintenance demands can be kept very low and the benefits in terms of biodiversity and amenity are considerable. These projects are particularly valuable given the loss of much of our native wildflower.
