Sustainable Urban Drainage Schemes (SUDS) are now mandatory for developments over a certain size in Scotland. Apart from acting to ameliorate flooding and retain sediments they also provide an opportunity to create attractive wetland areas; this potential, however, is often not realised.
Water Gems carries out remediation to existing SUDS to increase the recreational and biodiversity value. We also remove or spray out invasive plants like Phragmites australis and Typha latifolia as well as removing silt and repairing inlet and outlet structures. If required we also have the capability to design and implement SUDS.
