Water Gems has designed and built a significant number of large-scale timber structures including viewing platforms, bridges, boardwalks, jetties, and tree-houses and tree balconies.
Many of these have proved very popular with the public and they are often associated with the lake naturalisation and remediation work that we carry out.
We also use cut timber (often elm due to its exceptional resistance to rot when under water) to combat problems with erosion and to allow for subsequent planting.
Pictures here also show a tree-house with chute which we constructed in a private garden.
In 2011 Water Gems completed a spectacular new viewing platform for birdwatching and feeding at Hogganfield Park in Glasgow. The spacious platform allows visitors to get close to the water and an attractive, contemporary-designed handrail keeps visitors, especially children, safe. See our Commercial section for more information and photographs of Water Gems' extensive range of projects.
